My first Blog

Wow, I can't believe I'm finally blogging. This is my first attempt at putting my thoughts out for all the world to see.

My daughter Kelsi has been a blogger for quite some time and she is my inspiration to do the same.

I am fifty four years old, that's even hard to type non the less say out loud. Age will never keep me from pursuing my dream which is to be a successful artist. I started a full time career in my late forty's as an oil painter. When I decided to do this I told myself I was going to give it my all and I certainly have. It's been very hard sometimes juggling family, housework and time to do all that it takes to make a success at this but I have a wonderful support team that I know I couldn't do or be what I am with out them all. My husband is my greatest supporter and I am so grateful to him and all he does to help me out during the busy times.

I love being an artist it's the greatest challenge I've ever had to do other than raising my children. My biggest dilemma is what to paint next. I am so inspired by everything I see and it's somewhat distracting at times. I seem to be drawn to Western and cowboy art, horses etc. But find myself never wanting to be boxed into only painting one type of subject. But I do understand you must discipline yourself to stay focused.

I am preparing for four big shows for 2009. My first show in 2009 is "Arizona Fine Art Expo" Jan 15 through March 29, 2009. I am very excited about this show because I can actually paint during the whole show. I love talking to people and I just feel so good about the whole experience. I've been going to this show for years and now to be in it makes me feel so proud and thankful at the same time.

My next show is "Tubac Festival of Fine Art "Feb. I did this show last year and it wonderful. The people and the artwork were wonderful.

I will be doing two shows in Cave Creek. One is Out West Art Fest -Feb 20-23, and Sonoran Festival of Fine Art April 3-5. These shows will keep me busy and out of trouble.

My husband Rick and I have seven children in which we are extremely proud of.
Cory and his wife Katie and there three sons Charlie, Owen and Teddy. Eric and his wife Tammy and there two sons Tyler and Jacob. Dustin and his significant other Theresa. Daniel and his significant other Melissa. Krystle and her significant other Dusty. Hallie and her husband Matt Richardson, Kelsi and her significant other Nate and there little baby Mia. Our family is growing and I love the fact that they are all doing so well. I am very thankful for that. Being a grandmother is such a beautiful experience for me. There is nothing sweeter than grandchildren. I'm sorry but I can't leave even one out they all are very dear to me.

I am continually painting so please check out my website for new paintings and upcoming shows.
